Learn Sustainable Living while you Learn TESOL

When you visit Costa Rica you will be amazed by the abundant biodiversity that surrounds you. Imagine driving down the street and seeing a sloth dangling from a tree or walking out of your garage and catching a glimpse of a scarlet Macaw perched over your gate or even going to the beach and having a white faced monkey steal your pretzels from your travel bag. These are all daily occurrences for most of us here.

It is important to remember, however, that the people of Costa Rica do not take their country’s natural beauty for granted, in fact, they are fervent protectors of it. Costa Rica is a leader in environmentalism on the world stage. It’s a country with more than 25% protected area that runs on over 95% renewable sources of energy. Since 1997, Costa Rica has been imposing a real carbon tax that has resulted in the reverse of deforestation. People here take pride in protecting their country and have developed a sustainable model that should be emulated by all other nations.

At Global TESOL College Costa Rica we seek to educate all of our TESOL trainees on the importance of sustainable living while they attend our TESOL certification program. As a matter of fact, our brand new, state of the art facilities have been built using an eco-friendly design. Our building is equipped with a biodigester that allows us to generate some of our own power while fertilizing the surrounding fern plantation on which we are located. The building was also designed to take advantage of natural sunlight in order to lower our dependence on electrical lighting. We have also grown an organic fruit and vegetable garden on the premises where our trainees can literally watch their food grow.

Keep following our blog and check out our website to learn more about how we promote sustainable living.
