Why not??

After being stateside for a relatively short period of time, I have found that many people up here are in a constant state of fear. Fear of economic calamity, fear of the future and fear of each other have caused many to lose sight of what really matters in life. There was once a time very much like the one we are currently facing when a great man said, “the only thing we have to fear is fear itself”. We must not let fear get the best of us.

The comment I constantly hear that really motivates me to do what I do is when people say, “I could never move abroad”. I find myself asking, why couldn’t you. It is something that literally anyone can do.
Concerns I hear usually involve money, safety and fear of the unknown. I am here to tell you to fear not.

They say that money should never be the determining factor when choosing a new job. Traveling abroad not only gives you a priceless experience but it will also allow you to live more comfortably than you may think. The thing that blows my mind is how people fail to recognize the high cost of living in a country like the U.S. Just add up all of your monthly expenses without leaving out the occasional inflated parking ticket or iphone screen replacement to see that you probably spend an insane amount of money on overpriced and in some cases unnecessary things. Why not go to a simpler place where many of these
expenses may not exist?

“Speculation is the enemy of calm”. It is common for us to materialize danger simply by thinking that it exists. If you look for danger it will find you as certain as walking into a fire will burn you. Living life
fearing what’s around every corner is no way to live. We must enjoy this beautiful world that we’ve had the amazing opportunity to live in. It is a crime that people out there don’t take the time to travel and appreciate what’s around them. Don’t put it off, get out there and see what it’s all about. Why
not see the world?

It is natural to fear what’s beyond the fence. When I left my yard to play in the street, the street seemed scary. When I left my block to go to school, the school seemed scary. Do you see where I am going with this? Anything we don’t know is always going to seem scary at first but after some time it becomes familiar and comfortable. Right now, leaving your country to go beyond the border may seem scary but that is only temporary. Think of the most important decisions you’ve made thus far in life. How did you feel when you
made them? My guess is that at any of those moments, there were butterflies swarming around your stomach. That is natural and usually the mark that you are taking and important step forward. Why not embrace the unknown?

There will always be reasons why not to move abroad. Now that the economy is bad, the excuse people make is that it’s a money thing. When the economy is good, people say its the hesitation to leave their job that keeps them planted. The excuses will always be there and fear will always make them the most attractive thought line. Don’t give in to it. Why not make the decision to change your life?

Eco Tourism in Costa Rica

It’s no wonder that Costa Rica is best known for eco tourism considering that it’s one of the most biologically diverse regions in the world. With over 25% of the country designated as protected area, Costa Rica currently has 32 national parks, 8 biological reserves, 13 forest reserves, and 51 wildlife refuges. In these areas you can find many protected species such as leatherback sea turtles, crocodiles, jaguars, pumas, tapirs, monkeys, tree sloths and hundreds of exotic birds. It is also interesting to note that Costa Rica contains over 10% of the world’s butterfly species.

If you come to Costa Rica you will find that most of the tourist excursions and adventure activities you partake in advocate a deep commitment to the environment. There are a variety of activities here that would please any eco-conscious outdoorsman. These include canopying the age-old trees, hiking through cloud forests, rappelling down waterfalls, horseback riding and trips to the many active volcanoes sprinkled throughout the country.

Global TESOL College Cost Rica seeks to provide our trainees with the opportunity to experience all of this during the TESOL training course. While you stay at our first class facilities nestled high in the mountains of Coronado, you won’t have to travel far to see what I’m talking about. As a matter of fact, our campus literally borders the famous Braulio Carrillo National Park. This 108,971-acre park is made up of lush rainforest, cascading peaks and gorges, rushing rivers, divine cloud forests and blossoming flora and fauna.

We arrange trips every weekend throughout the TESOL program and encourage all of our trainees to come along in order to learn more about this incredible paradise. For more information on the activities and trips we offer just visit our website.

Learn Sustainable Living while you Learn TESOL

When you visit Costa Rica you will be amazed by the abundant biodiversity that surrounds you. Imagine driving down the street and seeing a sloth dangling from a tree or walking out of your garage and catching a glimpse of a scarlet Macaw perched over your gate or even going to the beach and having a white faced monkey steal your pretzels from your travel bag. These are all daily occurrences for most of us here.

It is important to remember, however, that the people of Costa Rica do not take their country’s natural beauty for granted, in fact, they are fervent protectors of it. Costa Rica is a leader in environmentalism on the world stage. It’s a country with more than 25% protected area that runs on over 95% renewable sources of energy. Since 1997, Costa Rica has been imposing a real carbon tax that has resulted in the reverse of deforestation. People here take pride in protecting their country and have developed a sustainable model that should be emulated by all other nations.

At Global TESOL College Costa Rica we seek to educate all of our TESOL trainees on the importance of sustainable living while they attend our TESOL certification program. As a matter of fact, our brand new, state of the art facilities have been built using an eco-friendly design. Our building is equipped with a biodigester that allows us to generate some of our own power while fertilizing the surrounding fern plantation on which we are located. The building was also designed to take advantage of natural sunlight in order to lower our dependence on electrical lighting. We have also grown an organic fruit and vegetable garden on the premises where our trainees can literally watch their food grow.

Keep following our blog and check out our website to learn more about how we promote sustainable living.

Why should I choose Costa Rica for my TESOL course?

If you are looking for a comfortable location to take your TESOL certification course, you should definitely consider Costa Rica as one of your top choices.

Costa Rica is the only country in Latin America that does not have a military; hence the peaceful lifestyle you can experience while your TESOL immersion program takes place.

Also, Costa Rica is well known for its beautiful vacation spots, such as beaches, volcanoes and rain forests, which by the way are all very close to our Global TESOL Costa Rica facilities. All these wonderful locations can become great weekend activities for everyone that enrolls in any of our TESOL immersion programs.

Costa Rica has awesome tropical weather and the people are warm and sweet to visitors. You will feel right at home, making your TESOL learning process easier and much more relaxing.

We encourage our TESOL students to use their free time to explore nearby towns and enjoy the culture Costa Rica has to offer: it enriches their experience and they get to live life as areal TESOL teacher does.

Although there are several more reasons we could mention to convince you to get your TESOL certification in our TESOL facilities in Costa Rica, the experience itself cannot simply be put into words, you will need to come and check it for yourself.

Studying in Costa Rica as a new year’s resolution

We are very happy now at Global Tesol College because lots of new potential students have contacted us during the holidays for our upcoming Tesol course in February. Since most of these students want the entire Tesol immersion program we offer, they seem to have lots of questions before fully committing to the program, so here are some of the common queries we have received, in case you are wondering about enrolling in one of Global Tesol Costa Rica programs:

  1. Is it expensive to live in Costa Rica?

No, it is not, Costa Rica is actually cheaper than most places, also with your immersion program you will be staying at Global Tesol Costa Rica facilities so you really don’t need to worry about transportation to class, do bring money for trips or souvenirs.

  1. Will someone be picking me up at the airport?

Yes, a representative from Global Tesol Costa Rica will wait for you at the airport and will get you to our premises in Coronado safe and sound.

  1. Is the airfare included in the total cost of the Tesol program?

Unfortunately no, you will need to pay for your airfare separately. Global Tesol Costa Rica will take care of your accommodations and class related necessities.

What is the weather like in Costa Rica?

Although Costa Rica is a tropical location, Coronado, where the Global Tesol Costa Rica Facilities are located is a bit chilly, mostly because it is located in the mountain side of Costa Rica, so bring a light sweater with you and closed shoes.

Will I have time to go sightseeing?

Yes of course, actually we can put together field trips for the students so they can enjoy the beauties of Costa Rica during the weekends or guide them through different activities they can enjoy in San Jose during weekdays.

More information about how to fully enjoy your Tesol immersion program in Costa Rica is available in our website www.globaltesolcostarica.com but if you have more questions or doubts we are always available at info@globaltesolcostarica.com.

What is TESOL in Costa Rica?

Activities at Global Tesol College Costa Rica

Activities at Global Tesol College Costa Rica

TESOL is an acronym that stands for Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages. It is a term commonly associated to the English teaching and English teacher certification process from a distinct North American perspective.

For many of you that probably doesn’t mean a whole lot and sounds dull and boring so let me break it down for you: For the past 20 years, it has become very popular for people from native English speaking countries like Canada, the U.S. and the U.K, to travel to non-native English speaking countries to teach English as a Foreign Language (EFL). Many of these people do NOT have much teaching experience or posses any sort of degree or certification to teach English. These people simply want to see the world, meet new people and learn about other cultures. The only problem is they usually have a lot of trouble finding good teaching jobs and have their trip cut short when they run out of money. This is where the TESOL certificate comes in handy. It shows foreign employers that you are serious about teaching EFL and in most cases can even guarantee you a job. Have you ever gone on vacation in paradise and told yourself, “Man I wish I lived here”. The TESOL Certificate can make that a reality.

Now to the question of what the advantages are of getting this certification in Costa Rica. Most people don’t realize how much money you can actually make teaching English abroad. Go to www.eslcafe.com and just scroll through some of the job postings. You can find jobs that pay more than 5 grand a month and provide accommodations, foreign language classes, tourist trips and more. You are also likely to notice that the majority of the highest paying jobs are located in Asian countries like China, Japan and South Korea. The catch here is that along with the TESOL certificate all those jobs will require some relevant teaching experience. This is where Costa Rica becomes an excellent option. Teaching in Costa Rica can act as a launch pad for those inexperienced teachers who want to make great money. Why not get the experience while living in the country rated the happiest place on Earth.

Costa Rica is a paradise filled with incredible beaches, rain forests rich with bio-diversity, active volcanoes, adventure sports and some of the kindest people imaginable. People who do their TESOL certification in Costa Rica and then work there for 6 months have already met the qualifications for a dream job paying you more money than you can spend. For North Americans, Costa Rica is ideal since it is a comparatively inexpensive flight from home, the cost of living is extremely cheap, and there are all sorts of fun teaching opportunities spread throughout the country. The worst-case scenario is that you get certified, quickly recover your investment by teaching for a month or two and return home after a paid vacation with memories of beautiful beaches, mountains and rain forests. What are you waiting for!

Check out our program for a life changing experience: www.globaltesolcostarica.com

This program includes accommodations, breakfast and transportation in the tuition fee.
